We also engage in the evaluation, financing and development of early stage companies with a focus on disruptive new media and internet technologies. We have a keen interest in bringing new technologies to market. We selectively invest in early stage companies that do something different – with style, commitment and a zest for success.
Founder and President, Hugh Dobbie, has over 30 years’ experience in business building, technology operations and sales, management and business development. An innovator and pioneer in internet audio and video delivery, Hugh was a driving force in creating new and exciting media experiences on the internet throughout the late 1990s. In 1996, he started to develop specialty internet radio programming. By late 1999, internet video programs were being produced.
Struggling with developing revenues streams to support ongoing content development, Dobbie shifted focus from B2C content delivery to offering video platform services for media and entertainment companies. He was founder, CEO and Chairman of Interactive Netcasting Systems Inc. (INSINC), an internet video company formed in 1999 that was sold to NeuLion Inc. (TSX: NLN) in 2009. NeuLion was a world-wide leader in digital video broadcasting, distribution and monetization that was acquired by Endeavor in 2018. During his five year tenure at NeuLion, he held the position of SVP Sports and Entertainment Solutions, structuring deals with marquee sports and entertainment properties world-wide.
Previously, he served as President of Dowco Computer Systems Ltd., a company specializing in graphic solutions that expanded services to become one of the largest privately owned Internet Service Providers in Western Canada. While at Dowco he launched DENtv and DENradio, pioneering distributors of internet entertainment.
A seasoned technology veteran, Hugh has managed multi-million dollar relationships with a wide range of telecommunication, media, sports, marketing and entertainment companies.
He has been a Board of Director with INSINC, Dowco Computer Systems Ltd., Tri-M Wireless, Dowco Chilliwack Internet Ltd., and Lightyear Digital and served as an Advisory Board Member with Worldwide Broadcast Networks.
Tenor was formed to service the needs of major media companies grappling with the challenges of monetizing new disruptive technologies – and to assist emerging new media companies implement effective business plans, source financing, and execute successful go to market strategies.
